At the Baylor College of Medicine Biotech Academy at Rusk, we are redefining what it means to prepare students for the future. As a proud collaboration between Houston ISD and the Baylor College of Medicine, our academy offers a transformative educational experience rooted in biomedical science, innovation, and community.

We envision a future where every student is empowered through a rigorous, integrative health science curriculum, equipping them to make meaningful contributions in a rapidly evolving, 21st-century world. Our mission is to ignite curiosity and cultivate critical thinking by providing engaging, hands-on learning experiences that blend cooperative learning with cutting-edge technology.

Since our transition in 2016 to a specialized middle school STEM magnet program, BCMBAR has stood out for its unique curriculum—developed by Baylor College of Medicine—and its focus on neuroscience, biotechnology, and scientific decision-making. Our students benefit from real-world exposure to the medical field through interactions with professionals from the Texas Medical Center, the largest medical complex in the world.

We are guided by our core values of Community, Accountability, Respect, and Empathy. These principles shape a nurturing environment where students thrive academically and personally. In our close-knit school setting, every student is known, supported, and challenged to reach their full potential.
